Birds and a dark moth - a preview of yesterday's session

Yesterday our studio was studded by hair extensions, false lashes, feathers and a team that had incredibly fun creating a series of photos inspired by birds and a dark moth. I will post more photos later but for now I share a few first close up favourites of the two models. And I promise that next blog post from this session is well worth waiting for!

Third day without e-mail - just like in the 20's!

Sometimes people say that it was better before but I definately don't agree right now! Today is the third day I don't have access to my e-mail account and thus I can't read e-mails sent to me and obviously can't reply either! So, if you want to get in contact, please call +46 70 175 43 24 or just be patient.

The pictures? Well, I like the old day's style anyway and these photos are from a session at Såstaholm some time ago.

Malaysia meets Sweden = Fall wedding at Grand Hotel

I have been really bad at updating this blog recently but I promise to post more often during the fall and winter than during the very, very busy wedding season! Today though, I am happy to share with you some photos from this super-beautiful-nice-gorgeous-friendly (I know that word doesn't exist, but you get the point!) couple's wedding last Saturday at Maria Magdalena chuch at Södermalm. I also photographed the preparations and the late afternoon dinner at Mårten Winges room at Grand Hotel and I think I can say that we all - bride, groom, guests and myself - had a great time. I couldn't have had a better way to end a period of photographing 11 weddings in 11 weeks!

Miss Butterfly bride & Mr Handsome at Gimo Herrgård

As a personal note, I love butterflies for their grace, beauty and their way to fly through the air in search for a flower to rest on. I don’t know Jennifer’s reasons to be a butterfly girl as well, but the second she said it to me I knew it was going to be the perfect wedding for, amongst other things, a butterfly inspired wedding ring detail shot. There were butterflies on the cover of the guest book and at the dinner menu cards as well, but the most graceful being was, despite all the butterflies, the bride.

I will definately post more photos from this wedding later but after yet another week of travelling I simply haven’t had time to go through all pictures. I also have a number of weddings not even blogged yet so my updates will be more frequent in a couple of weeks when I’m not travelling as much as I am right now. But, enough talking, here are the first photos of Jennifer and Olof!

Josefine and Simon at Oscarskyrkan and Waldemarsudde

From the very first contact I had with Josefine and Simon I knew it was going to be a spectacular wedding with a very relaxed bride and groom and that they had put real effort in choosing the right photographer for them. I definately felt that they gave me a lof of appreciation for my work throughout the day which gave a lot of inspiration. Thanks Josefine and Simon, I had a lot of fun with you on your wedding at Oscarskyrkan and during the portrait session at Waldemars udde, Djurgården!

Their fantastic car was provided by Bröllopsbilar.se.

Britt-Marie's & Per's wedding at Södertuna slott

Time is flying and it's already almost two weeks since Britt-Marie became Mrs Wickman at Södertuna in Gnesta. I had planned a quick blog post with some of their photos but it turned out I couldn't just pick a few and in the end it became a pretty long post instead, I hope they don't mind! The wedding was held at Frustuna church at one of this summer's last really hot days and Sweden showed its best for the couple and all of their guests from near and far. Britt-Marie and Per, I would like to say that you are the best bride and groom ever but I really can't because you share the award with Viktoria and Christoffer (one of the evening's great toast masters!) and Helene and Henrik (part 1 and part 2) ;-)! Weddings like yours make me end up in photographer's heaven!

Monday night thoughts - inspired by two of my friends

I have found two quotes on Facebook that have spoken to me on a personal level and today I want to share them with you. The first one, originally said by P. Coelho quoted by my former bride Tanja Erkkilä, goes "Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea about their sufferings." The other one (I don't know the origin, written at Facebook by Jesse Odesho) says "Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have; you will never, ever have enough."

It's late and I won't go into details on why these quotes speak so strongly to me but what I can say is that I have struggled all my life to like myself for who I am and not only for what I do or achieve. But now, finally, I am beginning to (but I'm not there yet!) to shift perspective and find my own place in this world. My place. Where I want to be. Not because I'm supposed or obliged to but because I have chosen it. I have always, and always will in many ways, wanted perfection but I am now learning that perfection is not just about control and what seems perfect. It's also about letting go. So, this is what I leave you with tonight, a wish that you already have or soon will find what makes you feel home and at ease with yourself.

And, because this is a photo blog more than anything else, I also want to share a first teaser from Britt-Marie's and Per's wedding at Södertuna last Saturday. I was with them the whole day and in a day or two I will post a lot more photos from their wedding.

Good night!

Preview from my most recent destination wedding - Åre

The bride and groom had planned to get married on the top of Åreskutan but the weather didn't exactly agree so Gabriella and Fredik said "I do" at Åre old chuch instead. But this bride was seriously cool and wanted to do the portrait session outdoors no matter what, so we ended up walking in mud, tripping on slippery stones by the river and photographed for more than an hour in heavy rain under dark clouds!

Gabriella and Fredrik, I promised to post some previews today and here they are, the first of my photos of you as husband and wife! I had a great weekend with you, your families and friends and you have a lot of photos to look forward to!
