I get most of my bookings during the high season long time in advance so when I, with very short notice, was asked if I could photograph this Norwegian couple's small destination wedding in Stockholm I was thrilled. Why? They got married a Friday which meant I could do it! I met with them at Gärdet after their private ceremony at the Norwegian embassy and after the session I actually took them for a city tour in my car, pointing out some famous and some less known Stockholm attractions. It was fun to spend some extra time with them because they are so nice!
Wedding photographers from Skåne having fun with us
Summer is a hectic time for all wedding photographers and I hardly have any time at all to do anything else than work. But, a girl has to meet some other girls to have fun once in a while and about a month ago some Skåne based photographers came to Stockholm to meet us at Weddingphotographers.se! Here are some photos! And yes, I did have fun even though it doesn't look like that! Thanks to you all!
I'm back and buzy with a lot of inspiring post processing!
After having two weeks of holiday with my husband I'm back at work, with a huuuuge amount of work to do. But, I'm not complaining because when large orders are coming in from this summer's weddings I know I did good and that my clients are happy! However, I ask you to be patient because first of all I have to go through two weeks of e-mails..... What I do when I have to take a break from answering e-mails? Well, I just continue my work in Lightroom, selecting and post process wedding photos, and also blog a few for my blog readers to see. This is some photos from the client wedding gallery I working on right now!
Pernilla's & Tor Harald's wedding day - part 2
This was the first time in years I haven't walked around anything in the church during the wedding. Why? Because this time I was not there primarily as a wedding photographer but as a friend and, hold on, a singer. But of course I couldn't leave my camera at home! I have posted photos from Pernilla's preparations in an earlier blog post, but here are some from the actual wedding and also from the portrait session during which my friend and great photographer colleague Jenny Hammar was the main photographer. And yes, Jenny also know Pernilla (well, they are actually related)! You can find her photos of Pernilla and Tor Harald here on her blog.
Jenny did a great job chosing photo friendly locations and I just loooove the field she selected for the first part of the session! And also, having the photo session late in the afternoon gave us perfect light!
Because Jenny was the main photographer I tried to stay away, using long lenses, most of the time. However, when she did some detail shots I could "borrow" the gorgeous bride and groom for a short while.
Yup, she is beautiful!
For the second location, Jenny had found a house with a soft blue colour and it gave us both some shade and a perfect background for the photos. And I must say, it's inspiring to come along with another really great photographer and not feel the pressure to take specific photos. Instead I could simply look for great shots and do my thing. And yes, it was kind of strange for me not to give any directions at all!
Happy marriage for yesterday's couples and holiday for me!
I had a full day yesterday but I have been asked not to post any wedding portraits so I won't. But, I can post a few details from my first wedding at Vaxholm's church, beautifully lit with candles which created the perfect setting for this very rainy wedding day! Many congratulations to all brides and grooms that married yesterday!
I also want to say that I have had a fantastic wedding season summer 2010 with soooooo many great weddings! But, now it's finally time to get some rest and as from today I will take two weeks off. So if you call or e-mail me during that time I might not be that quick to get back to you! The blog will however not be completely abandoned so check it as usual and you will find new posts now and then.
Paula's and Philip's autumn wedding in Sigtuna
Spring and summer are without doubt my favourite seasons of the year, but as a photographer I can't help that I also love the fall for its warm colours. Nevertheless, this time I'm going to post about 50% photos in B/W because this couple said they love the classic B/W-photos, of course with a modern style to them. Here are some favourites from Paula's and Philip's portrait session in Sigtuna.
Paula didn't want a traditional bouquet and her florist did an awesome job creating something very unique!
My answers to four e-mail questions from Aleksandra
I get a lot of e-mails. I get e-mails from clients, from clients to be, from friends, from colleagues and, once in a while, from friends and colleagues I don’t know yet. Today I got one of those and I thought, why not publish my answers here for you all to read. Her name is Aleksandra, she is a fellow photographer and she asked me five questions. Here is my attempt to give my short but personal answers.
1. What inspires me? I am simple. I’m inspired by positive emotions and beauty. How the word beauty is defined is a completely different question but everything that has some kind of positive energy gives me extra inspiration. Do you find a lot of those things at a wedding? Well, now you all know why I am a wedding addict!
2. What makes a photograph good? I truly don’t think that there’s just one answer to that question, not even for me. A photo can be good because it shows a person’s personality, it captures a moment, it creates an artistic view of a small detail, it enhances the beauty of a person, it shows emotions between people (this is important!), it evokes a reaction, it is technically perfect using interesting light and the perfect depth of field for that specific motive or why not all of the above. I admit that I think it’s important that the clients I photograph simply think that they look good, but that’s not the whole answer. I go to myself and ask, what do I look for in a picture of me and yes…. I am a bit vain even though I don’t look like a picture perfect model.
An example of a photo I love? Well, here is a photo of a the bride Pernilla helping her mother with her makeup before Pernilla's wedding.
3. What character qualities should the photographer nurture? Curiosity, inspiration and a strive to create something he or she is proud of. In addition to that, like in any client based work, a photographer needs to be able to balance the artistic creativity with a very clear focus on what the clients want and to be service minded. And talking about clients, I think every photographer should think about his or her own personality and what kind of clients he or she wants to attract. Be true to yourself and you will get clients that love you for what you are and the style you have!
4. What is your advice for the aspiring photographer? Be prepared to work hard, be very client focused (one really happy customer will give you a lot more credit that 5 that are just “satisfied”) and don’t fall into the trap to take too much inspiration from other photographers within the same business. Don’t underestimate your own work and time and take wisdom from that if you are and act confident, the clients will trust you more than if you don’t believe in yourself and your work.
So, now you have my short answers and I hope it also gave a bit more information about who I am and how I work.
All photos above are from a very special wedding, my friend Pernilla's wedding when she said "I do" to her Tor Harald. I wasn't the official photographer but I came along for the photo shoot with Jenny Hammar after the wedding. I will post more of the portraits later but this is all for now.
Wow, a new blog comment about me makes me smile!
Moderskeppet.se have had a wedding special lately and today I was happy to see that my name was mentioned as one of five talented Swedish wedding photographers! My friend Erika Gerdemark (who I think should have been mentioned as well) told me about it and of course I have to spread the word to you! I can assure you that even if I'm quite confident about my own abilities and style, all creative artists (including myself) need some encouragement once in a while to get new inspiration. And today, I got some!
And of course, I want to add some photos to this post so I simply pick a few fresh ones from one of my recent weddings, a wedding with a Persian wedding ceremony.
Tanja's & Esa's September wedding in Sundbyholm
Tanja and Esa had picked the most perfect September day for their wedding and on my way to Sundbyholm I knew it would be a great wedding as well. I met with Tanja at Hårdesign in Eskilstuna to see her transform into a truly beautiful bride and then I photographed their day until dinner at Sundbyholm's golf club.
After hair and makeup we drove to Sundbyholm's castle where Tanja got dressed, and we also shot the portraits in the surroundings near the castle. The bouquet and the flower arrangements were made by Johanna Egenor Lohman and Tanja wore a beaded dress from Mori Lee. After the portait session, it was time for the ceremony at Vallby church.
Wedding portrait preview - Tanja's & Esa's big day!
I have really tried to get the full blog post from Tanja's and Esa's wedding ready, but I simply don't have time to finalize it right now. But, I just have to post a few anyway before I head off to meet with all the great network colleagues at Weddingphotographers.se and also with some photographers from Skåne who are in Stockholm today to meet us! I guess I will tell you more about that later, but for now, enjoy the first photos from last Saturday in Eskilstuna!
